MANILA – Bomb joke is an irresponsible behavior that poses serious causes threats to public safety and security. The Manila Police District under the leadership of PBGEN ARNOLD THOMAS C IBAY, District Director intensify its measures to prevent false dissemination of information of any threat concerning bombs, explosives, or any other life-threatening or destructive materials. Through the utilization of various social media platforms, the MPD intends to remind the public that bomb-related jokes will not be taken lightly whether they are intentional or unintentional. It is considered a criminal offense and punishable by law which lead to legal actions against the perpetrator. Anyone found spreading false information about bomb threats or making bomb-related jokes will face charges under Presidential Decree No. 1727, commonly known as the “Anti-Bomb Joke Law.” The offender of this crime when convicted shall be punished whether imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years or a fine of not less than Php 40,000.00, or both, shall be imposed. “We urge the public to be aware and be responsible with your actions. Also, we encourage everyone to report any suspicious activities that may cause unnecessary panic or disruption to the community,” PBGEN IBAY said. “Let us work together to build a safer place to live, do business, and create a more resilient community,” he added.####
