MANILA – The Manila Police District under the leadership of PBGEN ARNOLD THOMAS C IBAY, District Director gears to intensify the security coverage in the city. As part of the implementation of a responsive and holistic anti-terrorism and anti-crime strategy to prevent, control suppress crimes and ensure public safety, the MPD conducted rescue operations of street children and street dwellers on various areas of the city from March 1 to April 5, 2024, wherein a total of 2,315 minors were rescued out of 391 operations conducted.

Rescued minors were properly turned over to the custody of Barangay, Reception and Action Center of the Manila District Social Welfare. Their parents, guardians or nearest kin were subjected for proper counselling to address and understand the causes of street dwelling and to develop tailored interventions, and come up with a long-term solution.

“These accomplishments underscore our commitment in upholding the rights and dignity of every individual, regardless of their circumstances. By working collaboratively with stakeholders and communities, we aim to create a more inclusive and compassionate society where every person has the opportunity to thrive together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of street dwellers and street children, offering them hope, support, and a brighter future,” PBGEN IBAY said.
